of Sozopol
Sozopol is situated in Bulgaria on the Black Sea coast and attracts
a steady stream of day trippers, but even in high summer there is space
to escape the crowds.
Climate
The Black Sea coast is governed by the seasons, this runs from May to late September
and is at its height in August. Bulgaria has a continental climate with long hot dry summers
and short sharp winters. However, the coast tends to escape the bitterly cold fronts that prevail
within the interior plains and mountain regions of Bulgaria.
Transport
Sozopol is served by hourly buses on the Bourgas to Sozopol route. In addition, inexpensive
taxis are also widely available to transport you along the coast. Car rental can also be arranged
through established globally recognised hire car companies.
Food & drink
The appeal of Bulgarian cuisine is that almost all of the food comes straight from the land
and is organic or free range.
Sozopol has an abundance of cafes and restaurants offering the widest variety of fish, grilled meats and
delicious salads on the Black Sea. Traditional western foods are also now common place at
most eateries. As are international brands of beer and spirits.
A two course meal with beer & wine in a good standard establishment will rarely
cost you more than £8 per person.
